- Legitimate interests – we’re collecting or using your information because it benefits you, our organisation or someone else, without causing an undue risk of harm to anyone. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to portability. Our legitimate interests are:
- The charity has a legitimate interest to collect/use personal information of members because it enables the running of the charity, which is what the members want by being a member. The charity holds personal information to enable it to act on the requests of members.
Our lawful bases for collecting or using personal information for membership or marketing purposes are:
- Consent – we have permission from you after we gave you all the relevant information. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to object. To be clear, you do have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

- The charity produces a newsletter to keep the college alive in the minds of members, and the Venerabile English College produces an annual magazine which is available to members. The charity and the college does not communicate with any members who opt-out.
